New Frontiers of the Look

For the 19 edition of the “Fomento à Dança”, the company DANÇA SEM FRONTEIRAS – DANCE WITHOUT BORDERS was selected to develop and deliver the project called “Novas Fronteiras do Olhar” (New frontiers of the look).

The company was funded for 20 months from October 2015 to October 2017. The company developed a new performance for outside spaces (Frestas do Olhar- Gaps of the Look), toured public theatres with the stage performance “Olhar de Neblia” (Haze Glimpsed), delivered workshops, promoted debates and Forums, and at the end of the 20 months created and published a photo book and a video of the whole project.

“Fomento à Dança” it is an important grant/ incentive for the professional dance scene of São Paulo city created in September 2006, to allocate resources for research, production, circulation and maintenance for contemporary dance companies established in the city, for at least three years. It encouraged the creation of contemporary dance and work on the diffusion, reflection and formation of new audiences. The program’s main objectives are to support groups, selected, on their continuous work in contemporary dance, to disseminate the artistic production of independent dance, and to promote people’s access to artistic production. This grant supports a number of professional efforts for which the primary motive is to spread the work and foster debates related to the universe of dance and its many connections.

The program has been promoting the creation and circulation of performances, meetings, workshops, residencies, exhibitions, laboratories, lectures and other actions focused on socio-cultural reflection and inclusion, with the participation of directors, choreographers, dancers, researchers and thinkers of today. The “Fomento à Dança” has contributed to the production and dissemination of dance in the city of São Paulo.
