Connections
2012
Site Specific, was the result of an extension course/residency of two months at the SP School of Theater – Center of Stage Arts Formation. Because of the space where the residency took place – Roosevelt Square, an open area surrounded by a concentration of vanguard spaces of the city´s theatrical landscape, in addition to bars and restaurants – and the diversity of participants, with mixed abilities and different formations, coming from several regions of the city, the company started to research the possible relationships and connections with the urban space. Site Specific left the School and occupied all the spaces of the square, in a dancing procession attracting curious looks and the attention of the passersby wherever it went, of all those who were there for the small and big buildings of the square and surroundings, as well as because of the work that was built there. The artist-citizen and the citizen-artist as subjects of changes in the urban space. Dance as the bridge between citizen and city. The action had interpreters/dancers with motor disorders, brittle-bones and low vision.
“I think dance is all-inclusive. To see a job like this is to feel that certainty, to go beyond limits, to the borders of the body. It is sensitive and subtle”. Maria Ines
