In The Same Square
2016 – This dance video was part of the Novas Fronteiras do Olhar – New Frontiers of the Look, project awarded by the 19th edition of Fomento à Dança for the city of São Paulo.
The video dance starts from the observation of the square as a democratic urban space, where people pass through and cohabit, and from the observations of the daily reactions that are established between people guided by assumptions and prejudices of what the other are or want and need. As one respects the space of the other and understands their needs, realising what is a help and what is an invasion of the other’s personal space.
The conception of this video dance came from the DANÇA SEM FRONTEIRAS – DANCE WITHOUT BORDERS, the continuous research on the theme of the perception and different ways to see the urban spaces and its inhabitants and on the principle that there is no right or wrong body, but a single body.
This video dance approaches poetically the development of a new look at the urban space and its inhabitants, whether or not they are disabled, and to stimulate the reflection and development of new forms of expression.
