Poetic Gaps: cartography of the diverse body in the urban space

Cia Dança sem Fronteiras in 2022 will be its aniversary of 12 and since it started its activities in the city of São Paulo it has been breaking barriers and prejudices often connected to the world of dance. During these years, the Cia has been researching and developing its own contemporary dance language. The company circulates around the capital and countryside with shows and educational activities, creating and forming new audiences for dance.
The poetry and language of Dança sem Fronteiras has been enchanting and moving many audiences, showing that differences can add up, transform and free the perceptions of beauty and diversity. In such aggressive times, the subtleties and gaps of an art capable of generating closeness and powerful listening among all people become even more necessary. Cia Dança sem Fronteiras since its inception offers live and online shows and actions with accessibility features. The company’s work over the last 12 years has shown that through a practice totally grounded in accessibility, in dance-theater techniques, improvisation, DanceAbility and study of choreographic composition, it is possible to create professional dance shows with participants of mixed skills. The Cia creates, in its actions and shows, powerful bridges between dance and the skills of each individual, breaking boundaries between art, dance and diversity. The Cia has a repertoire of more than 10 shows including works for the Italian stage, open spaces and (virtual) screens. In 2021 and 2022 she was awarded the Denito Gomes award. In 2021 for his work of giving access to dance with the show Olhares dos Sapatos and in 2022 for the plasticity of his show Ciranda de Retina e Cristalino.
POETICAL GAPS -CARTOGRAPHIES OF THE DIVERSE BODY IN THE URBAN, encourages and resumes the Cia’s work of occupying public space, now leaving the screens for the open space and returning to claim the city as a place for everyone with its dances and hybrid expressions.
