Dance Without Borders
DANÇA SEM FRONTEIRAS – DANCE WITHOUT BORDERS was born in 2010, in São Paulo, when Fernanda returned to Brazil, after living in Europe for twenty years. Thinking of this journey (and of so many others she did throughout her life), it is said that borders can separate anything, social and economic classes, cities, countries. To Fernanda and her creation, the company, it is not like this though, because she transforms borders into bridges between what is individual and singular and what is social. This is the locus of her production. She has been working for more than twenty five years with people/dancers with mixed abilities (with and without disability), creating in her performances and other activities of the company a landscape of diverse bodies and realities that fosters the needed exercise of expanding social horizons beyond labels. This citizen of the world artist therefore declares that nobody needs a “passport” to dance with her company, since she welcomes the singularities of the body’s structures, of all bodies, understanding each individual in all of the individual dimensions. A dance for all.
DANÇA SEM FRONTEIRAS – DANCE WITHOUT FRONTIERS brings together artists from different backgrounds and abilities, incorporating different art forms, promoting and making visible the dance that comes from the diversity of the performers.
